My Citabria partner, Ava De Guzman, and I, briefly attended the IAC Chapter 38 Critique Day in Tracy, California on Saturday, March 16, 2024. I was able to capture four of the participants before we had to leave. I'm not sure if the close up coverage of the planes is as beneficial to the participants for review purposes, or if a wider camera angle showing more of the complete flight path is bet...

My partner in the Citabria, “Filipina Girl” Ava, is the pilot with her friend Ann in the back seat. It was Ann’s first ride, if only just across the field. The video was created for Instagram with the incredibly short running ti...

Aaron Hogue's Aero L-29 Super Delfin drifted off of the course at pylon 4, rolled half inverted, semi- recovered, then lost altitude and impacted the desert floor. Aaron Hogue, 61, Rookie of the Year in 2021, was killed on impact. My heart goes out to Aaron's family and friends.

An F-16 inadvertently broke the sound barrier on a high speed pass at Oshkosh AirVenture on July 29, 2021 to the surprise of tens of thousands of jovial Air Show spectators! Aircraft traversing through the sound barrier create two sonic booms, one at the nose of the aircraft and one at the tail, but generally they are heard as one. The F-16 was very close, perhaps 400 feet from the camera, so t...

P-51 Mustang - SPECTACULAR SOUND! No Announcer
wow thats a lot of planes, all spaced out but like what if they were all dialed in, all working for the lead at same time, jus seems like trouble could strike, got to be a serious daredevil to do that kind of racing, has to be in the dna 100%, crazy, i def would like to see this racing live tho, thanks for sharing
The closest race is between AT-6 trainers because they are all stock. The jets and other racers typically have very different top speeds, which means that they are usually spread out from each other.

That was awesome, looks blustery on the ground 😅 Was there an issue with the smoke?
Thanks! There was a "controlled burn" taking place all during the competition, which wasn't a factor. BUT...yes the wind got into the 30+ area on the last afternoon (when I shot this), and the "controlled burn" turned into a major, several day wind-driven fire. Fortunately, not too much was burned except for hillsides. Makes you wonder though where the controlled "burners" brains were at...
Amazing
im a fan but this crap is stupid and the pain is not worth the price of my ticket
You're a fan?? How many Air Races have you attended?
thats what u get u r not a ace pilot u are now dead
5:00 fabulous!
Rest easy now,
Play stuppid games win stupid prizes
crash at 2:40
Why don't they just race for the best/fastest time, so they don't have to fly so close to each other?
It's a "race". What don't you understand about that? Besides, the closeness of the contestants had nothing to do with the crash.
@@WarbirdVideos Ive seen plenty of planes hit each other while racing!
@zulgadams5837 Oh yeah? Which ones and where?
F’ing advertisers who promote dangerous activities like parachuting from the ionosphere are just pimps. It’s Red Bull alright…spread out all over the tarmac.
Is it really worth it? The ego that risks it all and for what? Ridiculous.
It's their life uncle.
Shut up pussy 🙄
Gives me shivers!
Plane races? Tsss
How the industry even allows something so stupid like tight plane racing just baffles me. Red Bull my ass.
If you know nothing about a sport, then stay out of it
Knowing something or nothing about this subject, doesn't change the fact that it's dangerous as. Rip pilot.
😢😢😢
I was there. Toro hit 0.999999999999999999999999999 Mach.
That guy was definitely out cold from the Gs

Rest in Peace Aaron.
Absolutly not a sonic boom (fortunately for the buildings and the people on the ground, by the way). That was a transonic boom when it just starting produce the shock wave (although impressive, it's far less noisy than breaking the sound barrier, as I've already experienced both), he never passed the Mach but cool video and nice sound, great catch.

Great meeting you both!
Americans are so blessed to be able to still see the P-51 Mustangs fly over our skies. America had many amazing aircraft in World War II, but the Mustang seemed to get lots of love. My father, Fred Kiene, was an aircraft mechanic in World War II for the US Navy. Spent much of his time on the tiny island of Palmyra in the Central Pacific, 1200 miles south of Hawaii. He said they were patching up our aircraft that were headed north to Hawaii after fighting in the South Pacific theater.
I flew in the reno air races, my name is Roger wolfe! I watched the jet crash, he definitely black out, from all the g forces! When he rolled to the right, then sucked the plane, hard back to the left, he pulled 7 gs ,black out! I was just watching from a mile away! Sad to watch!
Yep... I believe he was graying out before that.
Love that MUSTANG sound 👍
What is the Point of these STUPID Air Shows that have killed hundreds of people over the last 60 plus years... They should be BANNED..
Ever heard of fun?
First, this isn't an airshow. Two, on average two pilots are killed in crashes a year at airshows. So using your own figure that would be 120 pilots in 60 years, not "Hundreds". And NO ONE has been killed on the ground in more than 70 years. There are roughly 500 people killed a year GLOBALLY in general aviation crashes. Wake the F up.
You should be banned .move to China you commie
Freakin Biden voters.
No-one was forced to do that, in fact it costs money, its like the Isle of Man TT.. long may it last
In a world where fossil fuel are vanishing quickly (not too much will be left 20 years from now) we are witnessing an absurd activity (like any race). Extremely rich people killed while playing with useless toys...
ok poor
you have no idea what you are talking about. we're not going to run out of oil in the next 20 years. 20000 MAYBE
The sheer stupidity of your statement is stunning. Go back to watching Greta Thunberg videos.
Agreed.
Not much will be left in 20 years?? your tripping right?
I'm here from Brazil and I knew a gentleman who was a veteran pilot of the Second World War, he flew a P-51 in the skies of Italy. He said it was incredible to fly this plane.
Dad's plane WW2
*g-LOC*
Yeah, he probably pulled too much G trying to get back on course and blacked out
The race was crazy dangerous to start with, they nearly collided multiple times.
Anyone know the music at the start?
One of my personal favorites. “Unstoppable” by The Score.
😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝stupid
your comment is
Since he is so stupid join the air force and learn how to fly a jet I bet you won’t even make it past training, u don’t know a thing about flying in a jet Dont you?
That scream was basically the American version of Stuka's siren. Can you imagine a German soldier hearing that scream and one second after the explosion of an anti-tank bomb? 🥶🥶🥶

Rich old guys flying antique airplanes in formation at full throttle close to the ground and a crowd of people… What could possibly go wrong?👀
Usually, nothing goes wrong. But it is a race after all...
Absurd. Racing of all types of vehicles has gone on for decades, including airplane racing. But considering your name and your statement about old rich guys, you probably do not know much about the sport you are trying to slam. But with your name, that is not a surprise.
What a horrible comment
you are correctly. not the first crash in reno !
@MAgaSUXX Your name says it all,a typical bitter little lefty who will never amount to anything
Why does FAA allow these kind of races?
Because they have a sense of human adventure, they know life is finite anyway, and they're not already dead inside like you. It's in a controlled environment, so why do you care? Because someone died? Pssst. He was going to die anyway. 100%. So are you. Maybe he thought doing so sitting in front of a TV while rotting away wasn't how he wanted to go. There are those out in the world outside your living room who actually live life. You should try it.
There you go. Ban a sport because of an accident? This is still America 🇺🇸
Because it is called Freedom.
Heart attack blacked out ?
Yeah……that’s the hard deck alright.
No Ejection? Has to be G-lock.
Yep.
there's no ejection seat ....?
Ejection seats are not permitted in air racing

So do thousands of people on roads. What's point of of this comment?

I'm sorry, racing airplanes seems like it should be in the top 10 bad ideas of all time...
well at least make it likie redbull airraces. one at a time. and some more excinting routes then just turning left. there is nescar already why watch nesplane too?
There are times when I think that the invention of the internet should be at the top of that list.
G Lock?
That's what I think. If you watch it with G-loc in mind, nothing else will make sense.
I'm not a pilot. Could you describe what g lock is to a dummy like me?
@@MH-bb4fl because of the G-forces caused by the acceleration around the pylons, the pilots can lose consciousness, especially if the manouvre is sustained for several seconds as in this case.
